A Turkish Affair

I lived in Turkey over an 8 year period. From 2002 to 2010.  I had an interest in what was going on in Turkey, I grew to love the way of life and the culture.  I read the book Snow by Orhan Pamuk, relating to the military Coup in Turkey in the 1980‘s.  I know  and understand about Ergenikon it was high profile in the Turkish news when I was there.  I have no wish to put my nose into another countries politics, since I do not have enough knowledge nor do I  know the exact facts.  I do follow Turkish news in UK and read Todays Zaman in English.  Todays Zaman  4th of  January 2014 mentions the possibility of a Military Coup  I hope that this can be averted.

There is not a government anywhere in the world that has not been accused of corruption. Where there is power there is greed and that is the crux of the matter in my opinion, for what it is worth.

In the years that I have been to Turkey I have seen it slowly improve in every way, Economicaly, Standards of living, Health Care, Education, Human Rights. I hope the current situation will be resolved.

My thoughts are with the people of Turkey and hope that this is a temporary problem caused by a minority who are scaremongering the ordinary people, who wish to go about their lives quietly and peacefully.

For the record Fetullah Gulen who is involved in  the latest accusation of the corruption of some Turkish Government Officialswent to America to live America and still lives there.
