Law and Order

The BBC News at 10 Wednesday 15 January 2014

The BBC news at 10 has a half hour time slot.  In that half hour five of the news reports highlighted crimes of a sexual nature.

1. The abuse of children in the Philpines who are exploited and groomed for sex and the growing trend of internet use for this purpose.  Some children as young as 2 years old.

2. Lord Rennard accused of sexual harrassment towards female colleagus and his abuse of power.

3. Disc Jockey Dave Lee Travis ( real surname Griffith) indecent assault and sexually molesting  young girls allegations.

4. William Roache ( actor Ken Barlow from Coronation Street) allegedly indecently assaulting young girls.

5. Two men grooming young girls for sex.

What is wrong with this country and the world?  The law is what is wrong.  The punishement handed out by the courts here is far to lenient, the punishement never fits the crime.  If tougher measures are not put in place. We will have a country with no law and order.  Eventaully people will walk around the streets almost naked and having sex in front of us, we will become so used to it we will just walk on past as if it is normal.

It is spiraling out of control and something needs to be done and soon.  I am quite modern in my thinking but there is a fine line that should never be crossed.  We seem to have lost teaching moral standards.

On February 6 Coronation street actor William Roache was cleared of rape and sexual assault.

A week later on 13 February DJ Dave Lee Travis was acquitted on 12 charges of indecent assault.

No one should be judged guilty and should have the right to a fair trial.  What I cant understand is in each case, all of their alleged victims had never met.  Why the police and prosecutor felt they had enough evidence to charge them in the first place? seems somewhat bizarre.

Toady 6 March 2014 yet again another sex case has emerged this time Publicist guru Max Clifford has appeared in court on 11 counts of indecent assault. This latest, and the above allegations came to light after the Jimmy Savile scandal hit the headlines in 2012. Some of the victims are now grandparents and have vivid memories of what took place. It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this c ourt case.
